The Results Are In!

Of course, Alastair Macaulay fielded the debut installment of Christopher Wheeldon’s Morphoses Company at City Center, and his review is decidedly critical.  You’d think that A.M. would give in to Wheeldon’s “excitable boyishness”–er, hotness–and go easy on the little love muffin: But no.

He’s basically like, Wheeldon ain’t showing the goods just yet (blast!), and the immediate success of his pieces is largely due to the all-star cast of dancers he has “on loan” from bigger companies.

A.M. is particularly critical of Wheeldon’s choreography for women, labeling it “passive,” as he did back in his last review of Wheeldon. Shit, man, if that’s passive, I’d hate to see what happens to the guy when she’s active.
