Twelve Tone T-Bone

In a total PSA, Anthony Tommasini tries to give a lesson on the origins of twelve tone composition! Awesome.

There’s also a video that goes along with the article. T-bone takes to the piano and plays some exerpts from Schubert to Schoenberg, stopping along the way with Schumann and Wagner, to give people a time-warp idea of how music went from schmaltz to psycho.

He’s very cute about the whole thing, even though he comes across as total music nerd. Still, I gotta appreciate his effort to keep people in the know about all the awesome shit that went on in the early 20th century.
